The incident happened on Saturday, May 20 around 11:45 p.m., when MTA Police responded to the south parking lot at the Metro-North Mount Vernon East Station after they received a report of shots fired, according to MTA Police Department spokesperson Aaron Donovan.

Once at the scene, an investigation revealed that a man with multiple gunshot wounds had been taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.

No weapons were found at the scene, but surveillance video confirmed that the shooting happened at the station just before 11:20 p.m.

Preliminary investigation has not found any connection between the incident and any Metro-North trains, Donovan said, adding that there was no impact to train service as a result of the shooting or investigation.

The suspect was seen driving away from the scene on East First Street. The investigation into the incident and finding them is ongoing, Donovan said.
